From Gaza to Cuba tells the story of Murid Abukhater, a Palestinian medical student from Gaza studying at Cuba’s Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM). While his family and friends face the daily onslaught of Israel’s bombing, Murid struggles to focus on his studies. Learn more about Murid and his mission to return home and help save lives.                        

Health under Sanction - Harsh US sanctions, reimposed by the first Trump administration, are making it difficult, if not impossible, for healthcare workers to access the drugs and equipment they need. Although designed to apply political pressure to the communist government, in reality, the sanctions hurt civilians the most. The infant mortality rate is rising, and life expectancy is falling.
